Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign is going on in 12 states and union territories of the country.
The deaths of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have become a cause for concern amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign in 12 states and union territories of the country. From the night of 21st November to 22nd November, two BLOs died due to ‘illness’ in Madhya Pradesh.
In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, two BLOs were admitted to the hospital after a heart attack. A female BLO also committed suicide in West Bengal. The relatives of the deceased have cited excessive work and pressure to meet targets as the cause of death.
According to the Election Commission’s report on Saturday, Rajasthan has the highest number of 60.54% forms digitized among the big states. At the same time, in Kerala the least 10.58% forms have become digital. A total of 98.98% forms have been distributed.
Bengal: Second suicide, 3 dead so far
- West Bengal: BLO Rinku’s body found hanging from the roof of the house in Nadia. Suicide note was also found. This is the second suicide and third death related to SIR in the state.
- Rajasthan: BLO Mukesh Jangid (48) committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Jaipur on Sunday. BLO died in Karauli. Heart attack on a BLO in Sawai Madhopur.
- Gujarat: 4 days 4 BLOs died, Farooq in Ahmedabad and Bachubhai in Dahod ill, admitted.
Madhya Pradesh: 2 BLOs died in one night, one missing, two had heart attack
BLO Ramakant Pandey died on Saturday in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. Family members told that Yogesh had not slept for four nights. Had fallen unconscious after an online meeting. Then could not be saved.
Sitaram Gond (50) of Damoh also fell ill while filling the form. Death during treatment. Raisen’s BLO Narayan Soni has been missing for six days. The family members said the targets were upset with the late night meetings and suspension warnings.
BLO Kirti Kaushal and Mohammad Laik, working in Bhopal on Saturday, suffered a heart attack while on duty. Both are admitted. Shyam Sharma (45) died in a road accident in Damoh on 6 November. Udaybhan Sihare (50) of Datia committed suicide on November 11.
