Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc pointed out the struggles of the Italian manufacturer in wet conditions since his arrival to the Prancing Horse in the year 2019.
Leclerc revealed that racing in challenging wet conditions was one of his primary strengths during his time on the junior circuit and that the iconic outfit has been finding it hard to get a grip.
“Since I joined the team, we’ve been struggling massively at finding grip in these conditions,” the Monegasque said.
“It’s hugely frustrating, because it was probably my biggest strength in junior categories,” he added.
Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton addressed Chairman John Elkann’s comments after the Brazilian Grand Prix, where Elkann urged the racers to “focus more and talk less” as Ferrari continues to seek their first win of the season.
Leclerc, discussing his relationship with Elkann, said they have known each other for many years and have a strong working relationship. He described Elkann as very ambitious, aiming to push everyone to achieve the best results.
Leclerc mentioned that he didn’t see the news but received a call from Elkann, as he does after every race, to catch up and clarify that his message was intended to be positive, emphasizing the need for improvement.
Hamilton, a seven-time F1 champion, who has yet to secure his first win with Ferrari, also commented on the situation. He expressed his willingness to engage less with the media but stressed the importance of everyone in the team taking responsibility and playing their part. Hamilton highlighted the passion within the team and his gratitude for the continuous effort of everyone at the factory.
He acknowledged the significant attention Ferrari receives, not always positive, but reaffirmed his commitment to helping the team rebuild and grow. Hamilton concluded by stating that every challenge is an opportunity for growth and learning, and he firmly believes they will reach their goals.
