A simple attempt to buy a snack at Jabalpur railway station quickly turned into a shocking incident. A passenger trying to pay for a samosa via UPI found himself in trouble when the payment failed. In a hurry to catch his train, he rushed forward, but the vendor, Sandeep Gupta, grabbed his collar to stop him and demanded payment. The situation escalated as the passenger was forced to hand over his smart wrist to settle the matter. Despite that, the vendor didn’t immediately let him go. Video footage shows that Gupta was seen giving him extra food items.

After the incident came to light, the Railway authorities took action by managing to arrest the food vendor under the Railway Act. His licence to sell at the station has been cancelled and a case has been registered.

Food Vendor Grabs Passenger Over Samosa

The video posted on X (Formerly Twitter) came with the caption, “Shameful incident at Jabalpur, Railway Station. A passenger asked for samosas, but PhonePe failed to pay and the train started moving. Over this trivial matter, the samosa seller grabbed the passenger’s collar, accused him of wasting time, and forced the money/samosa. The passenger had to remove his watch and hand it over to catch his train. Now, even travelling by train is not safe in the country.”

Official Statement From the Railway

After the video sparked outrage and raised concerns about passenger safety on social media, West Central Railway CPRO Harshit Srivastava stated the action taken against the samosa vendor.

As per ANI, Srivastava said, “The incident occurred on the evening of 17th October. At Jabalpur station, a vendor snatched the watch of a passenger after he had purchased it from him. Taking quick action, the Railway Administration identified the vendor and he was arrested under the Railway Act and a case was registered. The licence under which he worked is being cancelled. The vendor has been identified as Sandeep Gupta.”

The incident reportedly happened on Friday, October 17, at platform number 5 of Jabalpur railway station.
