The National Lok Adalat in Mohali, Punjab has accepted the closure report of the police in the case filed against famous rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh (Hardesh Singh Aulakh). The case was used for vulgar and derogatory words against women in the song Makhana released in 2018
.
According to the information, an FIR was registered against Honey Singh in Matore police station, Mohali under Section 294, 509, Section 67 of Information Technology Act and Section 6 of Porn Representation. The complaint was lodged on the statements of ASI Lakhwinder Kaur and the then Punjab Women’s Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati.
6 year old case canceled
During the hearing, the two complainants made a statement in the court and made it clear that they had no objection to the cancellation of the case. Police said in their report that the concerned song was approved by the Censor Board (CBFC) on 27 December 2018. It also clarified that no particular woman was directly made a party in this case.
President Anish Goyal accepted the closure report of the police after reviewing the file and considering the consent of the complainants. With this, the 6 -year -old legal battle against Yo Yo Honey Singh came to an end.

It is worth noting that an FIR was lodged against rapper Honey Singh at Matore police station in Mohali against wrappers Honey Singh for using vulgar words against women in a song by album Makhna released in 2018. This action was taken on the recommendation of the Punjab Women’s Commission and at that time the commission chairperson Manisha Gulati also raised the demand to ban the song in the state.
However, after the long hearing and the consent of both the complainants, the court has now accepted a closure report of the police and the FIR filed against Honey Singh has been canceled.
