The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) has arrested 13 alleged drug traffickers and seized narcotics worth Rs 8.53 crore in a 12-day crackdown across the state.
The operation was carried out as part of the broader Nasha Mukt West Bengal Abhiyan, targeting drug trafficking networks involved in the distribution of high-value narcotics in West Bengal and beyond.
The arrested syndicate comprises 11 men and two women, who investigators believe were key links in the drug distribution network.
HEROIN AND BROWN SUGAR WORTH Rs 7.43 CRORE SEIZED
The biggest recovery was 3.719 kg of high-grade heroin and brown sugar, with an estimated value of Rs 7.43 crore. The drugs were allegedly meant for local as well as inter-state distribution.
The ANTF also seized 18,620 Yaba tablets, containing methamphetamine, valued at approximately Rs 1.08 crore.
TOTAL SEIZURE VALUED AT Rs 8.52 CRORE
The combined illicit market value of the seized narcotics has been pegged at Rs 8,52,76,000.
STF officials said questioning of the arrested traffickers is underway and could help investigators uncover further links in the supply chain. The probe may also lead to more arrests as the anti-drug campaign continues across the state.
The operation marks a significant action against regional narcotics networks under the state’s ongoing campaign against drug trafficking.
