A 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in Junnar Town of Maharashtra’s Pune district. Outraged over the incident, locals surrounded the Aalepata Police Station late Tuesday, demanding that perpetrators be brought to justice.

Sandeep Gill, Superintendent of Police (SP), Pune Rural, told CNN-News18 that the minor girl was outside her residence when the accused abducted her. Later, he took the girl to a secluded place, where he allegedly raped her before killing her.

After the alleged crime, he threw her body into a forest, SP Gill said, adding the 25-year-old accused was detained for questioning. “At present, a team of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) is on the spot. An investigation is underway into the matter”.

This is a developing story. More details are awaited.
