Ishank swam across the sea route between Sri Lanka and India.

7 year old Ishank Singh, resident of Ranchi, has just made a world record. He swam across the dangerous 29 kilometer ‘Pak Strait’ from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi (Tamil Nadu) in India in 9 hours 50 minutes.

Ishank has been given the world record certificate for the youngest swimmer.

He achieved this feat on 30 April 2026. Ishank has now become the world’s youngest swimmer to cross the sea route of ‘Pak Strait’. Universal Records Forum has also given him the World Record Certificate for ‘Youngest and Fastest Pak Straight Swimmer’.

Ishank used to practice for 4 to 5 hours every day

Ishank used to practice for 4 to 5 hours daily at Dhurva Dam in Ranchi. His training took place under the guidance of coaches Aman Kumar Jaiswal and Bajrang Kumar. The Palk Strait is located between India and Sri Lanka, where there is a danger of strong currents and marine animals. Despite this he covered the entire distance.

Ishank studies in third class

Ishank is a class three student of DAV Shyamali School, Ranchi. The school principal has expressed pride in his achievement. He wished Ishank a bright future and described it as a proud moment for the school, Ranchi and the entire country.
