At least three people were killed in a horrific road accident after a private bus lost control due to a tyre burst and crashed into an oncoming container lorry in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district in the early hours of Thursday.

The accident occurred shortly after midnight near Sirivellametta in Sirivella mandal.

The bus, which was carrying 36 passengers from Nellore to Hyderabad, reportedly suffered a tyre burst while speeding along the highway.

As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to cross the road divider and ram into a container lorry approaching from the opposite direction.

The impact of the collision was severe, and both the bus and the lorry caught fire soon after crashing.

The bus driver, the lorry driver, and the lorry cleaner were killed on the spot.

Their bodies were burnt beyond recognition in the blaze, it was known.

In a timely act of bravery, a DCM driver passing through the area stopped at the accident site and broke open the windows of the burning bus, enabling several passengers to escape.

More than 10 passengers sustained injuries while jumping out of the bus to save themselves from the flames.

Police personnel rushed to the scene soon after receiving information about the accident.

Fire services were pressed into action to douse the flames, while the injured passengers were rescued and shifted to the Nandyal Government Hospital for treatment.

Their condition is stated to be stable.
