The Defense Ministry is going to hold an important meeting of the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) on July 3. This meeting will be held in the presence of the new Chief of Defense Staff and the new Army-Navy Chiefs. Big proposals like HAMMER air to ground missile, Verba air defense system, MP-ATGM and pseudo satellites can be approved in the meeting. This meeting is taking place after several months and can prove to be a big step towards strengthening Indian defense capability.

MP-ATGM: Big approval for indigenous anti-tank missile

The most important indigenous system in the meeting is Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MP-ATGM). This missile has been developed by DRDO. Indian Army will get 100 launchers, 2300 missiles and 5 simulators. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) will make it. The cost of the project is said to be more than Rs 2600 crore. The Defense Ministry is also planning to make private sector companies as partners.

Hammer Missile: Strength of Rafale and Tejas will increase

A proposal to purchase 600 missiles of HAMMER precision guided munition will also be made in the DAC meeting. These missiles are from Saffron Company of France, but will be made in India in collaboration with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). The cost may be around Rs 2400 crore.

Indian Air Force These missiles will be equipped with Rafale and LCA Tejas aircraft, while the Navy will use them for Rafale-M. These missiles have already been inducted under emergency procurement after the Galwan conflict of 2020. Now large scale procurement will increase the ability to attack enemy targets accurately.

Verba VSHORAD: Army Air defense will be strong

Indian Army is going to buy Russian origin Verba Very Short Range Air Defense Missile System to upgrade its air defense. This is an advanced version of Isla missile.

These systems will be made in India by the Indian company Adani Defense Limited. This will increase the security of the Army from low altitude air attacks. Proposals related to Software Defined Radio, Kamikaji Drone, Drone Detection System and Scorpene Class submarines are also going to be discussed in the meeting.

Apart from this, approval can also be given on fixed wing pseudo satellites and naval shipborne aerial systems. This DAC meeting will be attended by the new Chief of Defense Staff General Raja Subramani, Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth And this will be the first meeting of Navy Chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan. Defense experts believe that the new leadership is giving priority to indigenous weapons.
