The Bangladeshi ship saluted the PNS Saif ship at sea and escorted it to the port.
Pakistan’s warship reached Bangladesh for the first time after the 1971 war on Saturday. Navy’s warship PNS Saif reached Chittagong port of Bangladesh via the Bay of Bengal. He is on a four-day goodwill visit. Its objective is to strengthen defense relations between the two countries.
According to Bangladesh Navy, the command of the ship is in the hands of Captain Shujaat Abbas Raja. Bangladeshi ship BNS Shadhinota saluted the ship at sea and escorted it to the port. Officials from both sides met each other during the visit. This journey will end on 12th November.
After the fall of Sheikh Hasina government in August 2024, Pakistan first welcomed the interim government of Mohammad Yunus. Since then relations between the two countries are improving rapidly. At the same time, tension has increased in Bangladesh’s relations with India.

Pakistan’s warship reached Chittagong port of Bangladesh on Saturday.

Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M. Shaheen Iqbal welcomed the Pakistani officials with flowers.
PNS Saif is struggling with bad stabilizer, China sold it 15 years ago
PNS Saif was sold by China to Pakistan 15 years ago in 2010. It is now suffering from the problem of a bad stabilizer. According to reports, apart from PNS Saif, similar technical faults have also been found in other ships of this class like PNS Shamsheer and PNS Asalat.
Specifically, the ship’s HP 5 stabilizer, which is essential for maintaining the ship’s stability and balance, has failed. Due to this problem, the ship may lose control during a sea voyage, which has a negative impact on navigation.
China had collected about Rs 6,375 crore from Pakistan for these ships. Experts say that questions have been raised on the quality of Chinese weapons, because they are sold at cheap prices but do not prove to be durable in the long run.
Due to technical problems, Pakistan Navy has to bear extra expenses for repairs.
Pakistani Navy Chief Admiral also on Bangladesh tour
Bangladesh Navy said that the visit will further strengthen the friendship between the navies of the two countries. At the same time, Pakistani Navy Chief Admiral Naved Ashraf is also in Bangladesh on a four-day visit.
Pakistan’s top military commander General Sahir Shamshad Mirza had visited Bangladesh a few days ago. He also met Mohammad Yunus.

In 1971, Pakistan launched Operation Searchlight in Bangladesh.
The Pakistan Army carried out repression in Bangladesh under Operation Searchlight in 1971, in which three million people were killed and female civilians were raped.
Know about Operation Searchlight…
- Operation Searchlight was a military operation of the Pakistan Army, which was launched on the night of 25 March 1971.
- Its objective was to crush the movement of the Bengali population in East Pakistan (today’s Bangladesh).
- General elections were held in Pakistan in 1970. In these, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s party Awami League got a huge victory. With this victory the people of East Pakistan hoped that they would get independence.
- The military government of West Pakistan (led by General Yahya Khan) refused to transfer power. After this, protests and agitation started in East Pakistan.
- On the night of 25 March 1971, the Pakistani Army attacked Dhaka University, newspaper offices, hostels and civilian areas.
- The campaign resulted in large-scale violence, killings, rape and human rights violations. According to estimates, lakhs of people were killed and about 1 crore people came to India as refugees.
- After this atrocity the Bengali people started the freedom struggle. India also intervened on 16 December 1971 in view of the humanitarian and refugee crisis.
- After 13 days of war, on 16 December 1971, Pakistan had to accept defeat and a new country named Bangladesh was formed.

About 30 lakh people were killed in the genocide in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Can Pakistan’s warship become a problem for India?
The arrival of PNS Saif in Bangladesh is a matter of concern for India. For the first time after 54 years, a Pakistani warship has reached Chittagong.
It appears that the interim government of Mohammad Yunus in Bangladesh is rapidly improving relations with Pakistan. This ship is made in China and equipped with its technology, allowing China to have military access to Bangladesh.
Apart from this, Chittagong port is close to the eastern coast of India in the Bay of Bengal, hence the movement of Pakistani and Chinese ships may increase the threat to India’s maritime security. Exactly a month ago the American ship had also arrived here.
On the other hand, after the violent student movement in Bangladesh last year, the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to flee the country. At present he is in refuge in India. After this there was tension in the relations between India and Bangladesh.
