He wrote on social media that he was remembering that famous dialogue of Nana Patekar – ‘A mosquito man…!’ At the same time, actress Raveena Tandon shared several posts on her Instagram stories and called Captain Smit the real hero. Flydubai’s Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft was going from Dubai to Tel Aviv with 174 passengers. While the plane was flying over Saudi Arabia, the Omani co-pilot in the cockpit attacked Captain Smit with a knife. Despite being badly injured, Captain Smit opened the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to come in and arrest the attacker. After this the plane was landed safely in Tabuk. PM Modi also made a video call. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Captain Smit Machar on video call and inquired about his well-being. PM wrote on X that Captain Smit is a hero. Despite serious danger and injury, he displayed indomitable courage. His bravery saved hundreds of lives and a major accident was averted. The whole of India is proud of Captain Smit. Captain Smit has been a pilot in SpiceJet for 11 years. Before FlyDubai, Smit worked in SpiceJet for more than 11 years. Here he flew more than 9500 hours. Of these, more than 6400 hours were as the chief pilot i.e. pilot-in-command of the aircraft. He joined flydubai in June 2022. According to his LinkedIn profile, he has more than 13 years of experience flying commercial aircraft. He has flown about 9750 hours on Boeing 737 aircraft.
