Actor Yashpal Sharma, who is returning to TV after a long time, is excited about his new show ‘Bareilly Ke Bachchan’. While talking to Dainik Bhaskar, he told that he has kept aside his films and OTT projects for this show. Yashpal said that after ‘Neeli Chhatri Wale’, he is doing a TV show after about 12 years and this time too he is completely focusing on one project. In the conversation, he shared the difference between films and TV, the lack of good stories and important advice for new actors. Whereas Ansh Manuja described her character Satluj as rebellious and real. Question: You have worked in both cinema and television mediums. What do you feel is the biggest difference between the two today? Answer/Yashpal Sharma: The biggest difference between cinema and TV is the way of working. Films are made with a lot of planning. The two-three hour story is meticulously crafted and can be watched for a long time. At the same time, the work of TV is very fast. Here shooting goes on continuously and the artists have to be ready all the time. Many takes can be taken in films, but in TV, time is less and one has to work accordingly. Question: You have often been seen in powerful and layered characters. What was it about ‘Ajab Singh’ that attracted you? Answer/Yashpal Sharma: The character of Ajab Singh is very different and interesting. There are many layers to her and her emotional journey has its ups and downs. He loves his family, but doesn’t show it. This is the reason why I liked this character very much. Not only this, I have kept aside my films and OTT projects for this show and am completely concentrating on this work. Question: You are considered very selective in terms of films. Is the script the biggest factor even today? Answer/Yashpal Sharma: Absolutely. First I look at the script. After that I look at the character, remuneration, production house, director and team. I work only when everything feels right. Question: What is the biggest challenge for an actor in this era of OTT, TV and films? Answer/Yashpal Sharma: Whatever work you do, there should be complete honesty and dedication in it. I work in all three – OTT, Film and TV, but when I work on any one project, I get completely immersed in it. I am returning to TV after about 12 years. This is my second TV show after ‘Neeli Chhatri Wale’. At that time also I had kept distance from other work and concentrated only on that show and this time also I have done the same. Question: What mistake should today’s young actors not make? Answer/Yashpal Sharma: One should not show off. Acting is not a matter of showing, it is a matter of feeling. If you live the character from within, the audience will feel it. Question: Do you think there is a shortage of good actors or good stories? Answer/Yashpal Sharma: There is no dearth of good actors. There has definitely been a shortage of good stories, but with the advent of OTT and the new generation, better work is being done now. Question: Is there any role that you still wanted to do and now you got the opportunity? Answer/Yashpal Sharma: Ajab Singh is a similar character. There is emotion, intensity, love and many colors in it. I am excited about this. Question: Why did you find the character of Satluj most interesting? Answer/Excerpt Manuja: Satluj is a character of different and rebellious nature. He is not against everyone, but is a person who keeps people in the right direction. His anger and thinking make him different from others. Question: What new will the young audience get to see in this show? Answer/Excerpt Manuja: This is a show with a real concept. Drama and melodrama are often seen on TV, but this show is a little different. I think this will attract the youth towards TV again. Question: Did you learn anything from senior actors on the set that will always be remembered? Answer/Excerpt Manuja: Yashpal sir has given less direct advice, but I have learned a lot by watching his work. I learned all this from him how important discipline is on the set, how important small expressions are and how to play the character truthfully. Question: How much similarity is there between your real life and this character? Answer/Excerpt Manuja: There is very little similarity. The only thing that is common is that I am also a little rebellious in nature. We argue with our father on many things, but in the end we sit together and eat food. The same thing is visible in this character also. Question: Since this is a family show, what is the best way to handle misunderstandings in the family? Answer/Excerpt Manuja: Talking is most important. If something is troubling you, you should ask it openly to the other person. According to me, communication is the most important thing in every relationship.
