If 9 SIM cards are active in your name then you will not get a new SIM card. The government on Thursday directed telecom companies not to issue any new SIM cards to customers who have a pre-fixed limit i.e. 9 mobile connections in their names. This rule will be implemented across the country from 24th of this month. According to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), if you go to the shop to buy more SIM than the prescribed limit, then the companies will refuse to give you a new connection. Along with this, you will also be told that maximum number of SIM cards are already active in your name, hence a new SIM cannot be given.
