One person was killed, and three others were injured after a speeding bus rammed into multiple vehicles near the Nand Nagri Bus Depot in northeast Delhi on Wednesday night, police said.
According to the Delhi Police, the accident took place at around 9:30 pm. On reaching the spot near the Main Road close to the Nand Nagri Bus Depot, police found that a bus descending from the Nand Nagri flyover had first collided with a taxi before crashing into three motorcyclists.
All the injured were rushed to GTB Hospital for treatment. One of the motorcyclists, identified as 27-year-old Vinit, was declared brought dead by doctors. The two other injured persons, Rohit and Suraj, are undergoing treatment.
In a statement, Delhi Police said a speeding bus had struck multiple motorcycle riders near the Nand Nagri Bus Depot. The bus driver fled the scene after the accident. Police have since seized the vehicle and launched an investigation into the incident.
The Crime Team and the Forensic Team inspected the accident site and collected evidence. Police said legal action under the relevant provisions of law has been initiated at PS Nand Nagri, while further investigation is underway.
Initial reports had suggested that the DTC bus had hit a motorcycle rider, with 8 to 10 people feared trapped under the vehicle and several sustaining critical injuries. However, Delhi Police later confirmed that one person died and three others were injured in the crash.
