Hollywood filmmaker Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in New York. He was convicted of sex crimes involving former ‘Project Runway’ production assistant Miriam Haley.
The New York court announced this sentence on September 23. This sentence has been given after Weinstein’s conviction in the retrial in 2025.
The prosecution had sought a 20-year sentence and 5 years of post-release surveillance. The defense had demanded a sentence of 9 years, citing Weinstein’s health problems.
The court sentenced Weinstein to 5 years of post-release supervision and ordered him to register as a sex offender.

Former American actress Jessica Manharvey is one of the prominent women to accuse Weinstein of rape and sexual harassment.
Weinstein also received a 16-year sentence in California. He was convicted in 2013 in a case of rape and sexual assault of a woman. The legal process on his sentencing is also ongoing in California.
A New York judge has said the New York sentence can run consecutively to the California sentence, although its legal status in California will be decided by a court there.
Weinstein has been in jail since 2020 and many of his health-related problems have also been mentioned in the court. The defense had demanded lesser punishment on the basis of these health reasons.

Many women had accused Anu Malik

Following the case, CINTAA issued a show-cause notice to Alok Nath. At the same time, Alok Nath and his wife Ashu Nath filed a defamation case against Vinta Nanda.
On 17 October 2018, Vinta Nanda lodged a complaint at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai. The organization expelled Alok Nath from the association after he did not attend the CINTAA meeting in November.

Later the woman concerned told the court that she did not want to file a police complaint or pursue legal action against Vikas Bahl.

Meanwhile, model and TV actress Kate Sharma lodged a complaint at Versova Police Station in Mumbai. She alleged that Ghai called her to his house and tried to kiss her forcibly. Ghai also denied these allegations.
In December 2018, Mumbai Police filed a report after investigating Kate Sharma’s complaint. According to the police, no concrete evidence or facts were found in the complaint.

After the allegations surfaced, Rajat Kapoor publicly apologized on social media. He had said that if his words or behavior have caused sadness, hurt or mental distress to anyone, then he sincerely apologizes for it.
