This arrest was made after interrogating Taufiq, a resident of Alimev village, who was arrested on charges of espionage on September 26.
The team took this action under the leadership of CIA Palwal in-charge PSI Deepak Gulia. According to police, Akram, a resident of Kot village in Palwal district, is a YouTuber and had posted videos on the history of Mewat on YouTube.
He was in touch with Pakistani agents for the last 3 years and allegedly used to provide SIM cards. Wasim’s father runs a hospital in the village and he has relatives in Pakistan. Police have found many objectionable WhatsApp chats from Akram’s phone, some of which were deleted.
Know here how Wasim got caught by the police… Input received from Taufik, arrested four days ago: Police officials said that Palwal police had arrested Taufiq a few days ago on charges of spying for Pakistan. Taufik had given the police a clue about Akram. Akram came in contact with Pakistani agent Danish while applying for a visa for the neighboring country in 2021. Although Akram’s family has denied going to Pakistan, many facts have come to light during interrogation, which point towards his cross-border links.
Were in contact with ISI through internet calls: Taufiq, accused of sending sensitive information to Pakistan since 2022, had revealed Akram’s name during interrogation. According to the police, both Akram and Taufiq were in touch with the ISI and Pakistan High Commission through internet calls. SP Varun Singla has entrusted the responsibility of thorough investigation of the case to Palwal Crime Branch and other concerned officers. The Intelligence Bureau is also in touch with the police. Police said that more arrests are likely to be made in this case in the coming days.
Recovering deleted chats: According to SP Varun Singla, the deleted chats are being recovered with the help of cyber technology so that it can be known what sensitive information he had sent to Pakistan. Wasim also went to Delhi and provided him a SIM card. Taufiq has been produced in the court and sent to jail, while Wasim has been taken on four-day remand from the court for questioning.
Wasim also runs a YouTube channel: According to the police, Wasim also runs a YouTube channel and helps in his father’s hospital during the rest of his time. Wasim’s name has now been added to the treason case registered against Taufiq in the city police station. On the other hand, Wasim’s family members say that he never went to Pakistan.
