Nationalist Congress Party-SCP Chief Sharad Pawar had hinted at retiring from politics on November 5. A day after this, on Wednesday, his daughter and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule has said that Sharad will not retire from politics.

Supriya said in an event of ‘The Hindu’ – Sharad Pawar does politics even while eating, sleeping and breathing. They cannot live without politics. Politics is the biggest tonic for him and he enjoys it.

Pawar Saheb had said that he will not contest the elections, which means that he will not contest the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, Assembly elections. This does not mean that he will leave politics. Only Ajit Pawar wanted him to retire.

On the other hand, regarding inclusion of Ajit Pawar in Mahavikas Aghadi and joining him with Sharad group, Supriya said – There is no question of reconciliation with Ajit. We will not join hands with them even after the assembly elections.

Supriya said- What happened to us should not happen to anyone.

  • Whatever happened in Maharashtra in the last years, I do not want it to happen again. What happened to our party should not happen to any party. A year ago today we did not have any party. There was no symbol. Everything was taken from us.
  • When I contested the elections, the fight was not easy. It was necessary to fight, but it was not necessary to win. There is no discussion regarding policy in Maharashtra elections today. No one is discussing economy, women’s safety.
  • People were saying that our party is over. However, the matter is still in court. This has now become the new normal for us. Sometimes one has to fight with ED, sometimes CBI, sometimes some other organization, but now this is the new normal.
  • Elections are not meant to please anyone. These are for making policies. My fight is with BJP. Ajit Pawar is now in alliance with BJP, which is not doing well.

Sharad Pawar had said- We will have to stop somewhere 84-year-old Sharad Pawar said in Baramati on November 5, ‘We will have to stop somewhere. I don’t want to contest elections now. Now new people should come forward. I have contested elections 14 times so far. Now I don’t want power. I want to work for the society. I will consider whether to go to Rajya Sabha or not.

A look at the political equation of Maharashtra…

BJP reduced from 23 to 9 seats in Lok Sabha elections In the Lok Sabha elections, out of 48 seats in Maharashtra, INDIA alliance got 30 seats and NDA got 17 seats. Of these, BJP got 9, Shiv Sena got 7 and NCP got only 1 seat. BJP lost 23 seats. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, NDA got 41 seats while in 2014 it got 42 seats.

Estimate of BJP’s loss according to Lok Sabha elections If there is a trend like Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra Assembly elections then BJP will suffer loss. BJP will be reduced to around 60 seats. At the same time, in the survey of the opposition alliance, MVA has been estimated to get 160 seats. Maratha movement is the biggest challenge for BJP. Apart from this, people have sympathy with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar after the sabotage in Shiv Sena and NCP.

Assembly Election- 2019

  • There was BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in 2019. BJP won 105 seats and Shiv Sena won 56 seats. NCP got 54 seats and Congress 44 seats from the alliance. BJP-Shiv Sena would have easily come to power, but the alliance broke due to differences of opinion.
  • On 23 November 2019, Fadnavis took oath as the Chief Minister and Ajit Pawar as the Deputy Chief Minister. However, both of them resigned on 26 November, before the majority test.
  • On 28 November, Mahavikas Aghadi of Shiv Sena (undivided), NCP (undivided) and Congress came to power.
  • After this, there was a split between Shiv Sena (undivided) and NCP (undivided) and these two parties got divided into four factions. Still, Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray benefited in the Lok Sabha elections. Now assembly elections are also being held on this background. Read the full news…
