सहारा-ग्रुप की कंपनियों के मामलों की जांच कर रहा SFIO: वित्त मंत्री ने कहा- इन्वेस्टिगेशन ऑफिस की रिपोर्ट के बाद ग्रुप पर आगे की कार्रवाई की जाएगी

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in the Lok Sabha on Monday (August 5) that the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) is conducting a detailed investigation into the matter related to the Sahara Group companies. Further action will be taken against the group after the SFIO report.

In the Lok Sabha, a question was raised as to why all the investors of Sahara Group companies have not come forward to claim refund? In response to this, Sitharaman said that all the cases of Sahara Group are being monitored by the Supreme Court and the government is working as per the directions of the apex court.

SFIO is investigating the entire matter: Finance Minister
The Finance Minister said, ‘It is true that only small investors have come forward to claim refund. SFIO is investigating the whole matter. It is also investigating why all the investors have not come forward to claim refund and where they are.’

19,650 people came forward to claim refund
Nirmala Sitharaman said that after the detailed analysis of SFIO, the whole picture will be clear and action can be taken. She said that there are 3.7 crore investors in Sahara Group companies and so far 19,650 people have come forward to claim refund.

17,250 claims have been settled
Sitharaman said that out of these claims, 17,250 claims have been settled. While the remaining applicants have been asked to provide more documents so that their claims can be settled.

The government cannot do anything in the case of group companies
The Finance Minister said that even if the Central Government wants, it cannot do anything in the case of Sahara Group companies because everything is under the supervision of the Supreme Court. He said, ‘We are continuously reporting to the Supreme Court.

The investigation of the cases of three companies was handed over to SFIO in 2018
According to data provided by the Finance Ministry to Parliament in December 2023, the investigation of the cases of three Sahara Group companies was handed over to the SFIO on October 31, 2018.

These companies are – Sahara Housing Investment Corporation Limited, Sahara Q Shop Unique Products Range Limited and Sahara Q Gold Mart Limited. Apart from this, on 27 October 2020, orders were given to investigate against six other companies of the group.
