There was silence of the night…only the faint light of street lights was spread on the streets of Delhi. But within a few minutes that silence turned into the echo of bullets. The sound of bullets echoing near Bahadur Shah Zafar Road and Dr. Ambedkar Chowk of Rohini shook the area. This was the biggest encounter so far in the country’s capital, in which the terror Ranjan Pathak gang of Sitamarhi, Bihar ended forever.
When the forensic team reached the spot in the morning, the scene was no less than a thriller film. Police vehicles all around, flashing red lights, cartridges lying on the ground and a white car, in which were sitting four such criminals, who were wanted by the police of many states.
These four were Ranjan Pathak, Bimlesh Mahato, Manish Pathak and Aman Thakur. At around 1 o’clock in the night these miscreants were arrested by Delhi Police and Bihar There was a face-off with the joint team of police. This encounter lasted for about half an hour and when the sound of bullets stopped, all four miscreants were dead after being shot.
The story of the encounter started from Bihar. Sitamarhi Police had found the location of these criminals in Delhi. Bihar Police immediately alerted Delhi Crime Branch. Location tracked – signal received from Rohini area. What happened next, police teams from both the states joined together in the operation.
As soon as the white car of Ranjan gang was seen, the chase started. The speed of the car is fast, police vehicles are behind. The miscreants were constantly changing direction so that they could escape from the chase. But Delhi Police barricaded the way.
The miscreants made a last attempt to drive the car over the divider, but by then it was too late. Bullets fired from government guns killed these four operatives of Sigma & Company.
Sigma & Company – a mobile crime company
Ranjan Pathak was not just a criminal – he ran crime like a brand. His gang was infamous by the name of Sigma and Company. Murder, robbery, extortion, ransom, and arms smuggling, there was no crime in which this gang was not involved.
Police records show that Ranjan used to update each of his crimes on social media – as if it was some accomplishment. The police of four states, Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, and now Delhi were looking for him.
Delhi Police Joint Commissioner Surendra Yadav said that this operation was a joint operation of Delhi and Bihar Police. We had received information about their movement in advance. When the police tried to stop, the miscreants started firing. All four were killed in retaliation. Four of our soldiers were also shot, but they are safe because of their bulletproof jackets. Bihar DGP also said on phone that these were notorious criminals, especially Ranjan Pathak had become a headache for Sitamarhi. People were very upset with him.

Police are now investigating the network of Ranjan gang. Initial investigation has revealed that this gang had fled to Delhi after extortion and murder cases in Bihar. They were planning some big incident here. Many illegal weapons, mobile phones, and cash have been recovered from them. The police are now scanning phone records and digital trails, so that the remaining members of Sigma & Company can be reached.
