Two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening. The first earthquake was of 7.2 magnitude. Its center was about 160 km west of Caracas and its depth was 13 km. A few minutes later a second earthquake of 7.5 magnitude occurred. The epicenter of the second earthquake was southwest of Moron city and at a depth of 10 km. Buildings and houses were damaged in many areas including the capital Caracas. According to local media, part of the roof of Caracas airport collapsed. A huge cloud of dust was seen rising due to falling debris. This is the biggest earthquake of the last 126 years, before this an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 had occurred in 1900.
