Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa, Janhvi Kapoor starrer film Homebound has been included in the top 15 films of Oscar 2026. Homebound has been included in the top 15 shortlist films in the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.
Vishal Jethwa has expressed his happiness on the film being shortlisted. Sharing his feelings, Vishal said- ‘This moment is like a dream for me and is very humbling.
Homebound making the shortlist and moving on to the Oscars is something I never imagined. I am deeply grateful for the love and support the film has received from audiences across the world.

Vishal further said- ‘I want to especially thank Karan Johar sir, who trusted this story and us artists. His dream and support gave flight to the homebound.
Neeraj Ghaywan Sir’s sensitivity, honesty and clear thinking gave me the opportunity to touch such emotional aspects which I had never touched before.
Working with him has been a transformative experience for me. I also want to thank Ishaan Khattar, whose passion and hard work made every scene better. We learned a lot from each other in this journey. This honor belongs to the entire team, who put their heart and hard work into the film.
Homebound’s inclusion in the Oscar shortlist further strengthens its growing international recognition. This is a testament to strong storytelling and teamwork and an important achievement for Indian cinema on the global stage.

Let us tell you that a total of 15 films have been selected in the International Feature Film category. Out of these, only 5 films will get final nomination in future. These nominations will be announced on 22 January 2026. After this, the Oscar Awards event will take place on March 15, 2026.
At the same time, before this achievement, the film has been appreciated in many film festivals. The film finished second in the race for the International People’s Choice Award at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival held three months ago.
Earlier, about four months ago, ‘Homebound’ had received a 9-minute standing ovation at the Cannes premiere. ‘Homebound’ was the only feature film from India at the Cannes Film Festival this year, whose world premiere was done in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section.

Talking about the story of the film, the film is the story of two friends. Who comes from a small North Indian village and is looking for a police job but as he gets closer to his dream, his difficulties increase.
