On Monday, for the first time after the controversy, Vinesh Phogat was spotted outside the Olympic Village in Paris.

It will be decided today whether Haryana wrestler Vinesh Phogat will get the silver medal in the Olympics or not. The sports court i.e. Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) can give its verdict today. On August 10, the court reserved the verdict and said that it will give the verdict on August 13.

.

Arguments were given in Vinesh’s favour that the wrestler did not commit any fraud. After reaching the final, she was a confirmed contender for the silver medal. International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach had said that he would abide by the decision of CAS.

Let us tell you that Vinesh Phogat wrestled in the 50 kg weight category in the Olympics. She reached the finals by defeating 3 wrestlers including Japan’s Olympic champion in one day. However, the next day before the final match, her weight was found to be 100 grams more.

Due to which she was declared ineligible. Regarding this, Vinesh filed an appeal in the sports court. On which a hearing was held.

On the other hand, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha said, “It is the responsibility of the player and the coach to manage weight. Especially in sports like wrestling, weightlifting, boxing and judo. In these, the responsibility of weight management of the athletes lies with each athlete and his coach, not with the IOA-appointed Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala and his team.”

Vinesh was seen carrying bags at the Olympic Village in Paris.

These arguments were also put forward in favor of Vinesh
The sports court ruled in Vinesh’s favour that 100 grams of weight is very less. It is not more than 0.1% to 0.2% of the athlete’s weight. It can also easily increase due to the swelling of the human body in the summer season because more water is stored in the body due to the need of human survival due to heat.

Apart from this, Vinesh had to fight 3 competitions in a single day. During this time, she also had to eat to maintain her energy.

Apart from this, the Indian side said that due to the distance between the sports village and the arena of the Olympic Games and the tight schedule of fights on the first day, Vinesh did not get enough time to lose weight. Vinesh’s weight had reached 52.7 kg after fighting 3 wrestling matches on the first day.

The Indian side also said that Vinesh did not have any advantage over other wrestlers by gaining 100 grams of weight. This was just the result of the necessary recovery process. After fighting 3 consecutive matches in a day, her body also needed diet.

The Indian side also argued that there is no fraud or manipulation in the case of Vinesh Phogat. Nor is there any issue of doping.

Having fought all the previous matches well and being disqualified in the final, Vinesh should not be deprived of the silver medal despite her hard work.

What has happened so far in the Vinesh Phogat case, read in detail…

1. Defeated 3 wrestlers in 1 day in Olympics
Vinesh Phogat played 3 matches in the 50 kg weight category on Tuesday. She defeated Tokyo Olympic champion Yui Susaki in the pre-quarterfinals. She defeated Ukraine in the quarterfinals and Cuba in the semifinals. Vinesh became the first Indian female wrestler to reach the finals.

2. Diet increased weight, whole night’s effort was wasted
While playing 3 matches till the semi-finals, she was given food and water for protein and energy. Due to which her weight increased to 52.700 kg. According to Indian Olympic team doctor Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, the team had only 12 hours to bring Vinesh’s weight back to 50 kg.

The entire team worked all night to reduce Vinesh’s weight. Vinesh did not sleep the whole night and kept doing exercises like jogging, skipping and cycling to bring her weight into the prescribed category. Vinesh even cut her hair and nails. Her clothes were also shortened.

3. I gained 100 grams more weight, I had only 15 minutes to lose the weight
On Wednesday morning, Vinesh’s weight was checked again as per the rules. Her weight was found to be more. She got 15 minutes but even in the last weighing, she was found to be 100 grams more. After which she was declared disqualified.

4. Vinesh appealed against disqualification
After this, Vinesh appealed to the Sports Court (CAS) for disqualification. In which Vinesh appealed to be allowed to play the final match. When this was not possible, Vinesh changed her appeal and said that her weight was as per the rules till the semi-finals. She should be given a joint silver medal.

5. Vinesh announced her retirement
