Former South Korea’s former First Lady Kim Kim-Hui was arrested on Tuesday (August 12) on corruption charges.
After about five hours of hearing in the court, the court issued a warrant for his arrest. The prosecution says Kim intervened in the investigation of the corruption case. He has serious allegations like stock fraud, taking bribe and putting illegal pressure.
After the arrest, Kim will now be in jail with her husband and former President Union Suk Yol. Yolk is facing trial in the case of martial law.
Kim is also known as an animal rights activist and promised to end dog consumption in the country during her husband’s presidential tenure. He got parole in May 2024. After his presence at the NATO Summit held in Spain in 2022, he was called a fashion icon by the international media.
Kim and Yu were married in 2012. They have no children, but they have about six dogs and five cats. Kim preferred to call herself ‘wife’s wife’ instead of First Lady after Union was elected President in 2022.
Kim died when her father was in school. Her mother, Choi Yun-Sun, was accused of running an old age home without a medical license, in which she was acquitted, but was sentenced in a real estate fraud case.
