Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on the phone on Saturday. The talks discussed Middle East issues, with particular emphasis on the situation in Gaza, Iran’s nuclear program and Syria.

This call took place amid the activities of America’s United Nations Mission. This week the US urged the UN Security Council to approve US President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan.
Trump presented the plan on September 29. It received widespread support at the Sharm el-Sheikh conference on 13 October. Israel accepted it, but Hamas did not fully agree.
According to the Israeli PMO, Putin made the call. The two leaders last spoke in October.
