Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen has reached the finals of Australian Open. In the semi-finals, he defeated World No. 6 Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the third game. Lakshya registered a 17-21, 24-22, 21-16 win at the State Sports Center in Sydney on Saturday.
World Championship 2021 bronze medalist Lakshya made a comeback after the defeat in the opening game. He won the third game in the match that lasted 86 minutes. Now he will face 26th ranked Yushi Tanaka of Japan in the final on Sunday.
Fourth win against Chen 14th ranked Lakshya defeated Chou Tien Chen for the fourth time. Even earlier this year, both of them had faced each other in the semi-finals of Hong Kong Open, where Lakshya had won 23-21, 22-20. Chen started the match brightly and won the first game 21-17.
In the second game too, he took a lead of 7-4, but Lakshya came back in the match by making the score 12-12. Lakshya overturned the lead of 14-17 and took the lead at 20-18. Although the game went to a decider, Lakshya saved three match points to win the game 24–22.

Recorded a one-sided win in the third game The Indian players completely dominated in the third game. Lakshya entered the final by winning the match 21-16. This will be Lakshya’s second final of the BWF World Tour 2025. Now Lakshya Sen is the only Indian player left in the tournament. He defeated his fellow Indian player Ayush Shetty in the quarter-finals.
India’s challenge in men’s doubles has ended. Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy are out after losing in the quarter-finals.
