Nuclear power generation technology can open the way to weapons
Actually, to generate electricity through nuclear technology, uranium is prepared through a special process. This is called uranium enrichment.
Under the agreement, Saudi Arabia will be able to enrich uranium by about 20%. This is much lower than the level required for a nuclear bomb.
The problem is that once a country has the capacity to enrich uranium to 20%, it may take less time to get it to weapons-grade levels.
For this reason, American lawmakers fear that Saudi Arabia may make nuclear weapons in the future.

In return, Saudi Arabia was expected to open an embassy, appoint ambassadors and begin official relations with Israel.

Trump later changed strategy and separated relations with Israel from this agreement.

US Congress has 90 days to review the agreement
This agreement between America and Saudi Arabia is for 30 years. Under this, American companies will play a big role in creating nuclear power related infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
The US Parliament is reviewing this agreement. Parliament has 90 days for this.
If during this period the Parliament does not pass a resolution to stop the agreement, it can come into force automatically.
Saudi Arabia is a member of NPT
Saudi Arabia is a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Under this treaty, member countries agree not to make nuclear weapons and keep their nuclear programs under international monitoring.
If Saudi Arabia openly moves towards making nuclear weapons, it may have to face pressure from many countries including America and European countries. Apart from this, economic sanctions can be imposed on it, which can affect investment, trade and defense cooperation.
