Iranian agents knew in which building Trump was staying during the NATO summit held in Ankara, Turkey on July 7.
The New York Times report claimed that American Intelligence had made this assessment. Iran also knew on which floor of the building Trump stayed. After this information, Trump was taken to another plane from Türkiye.
On Tuesday, Trump also admitted to changing the plane due to fear of Iran. Talking to journalists, he said that the plane by which he had gone to participate in the NATO summit was at the highest risk of attack.
Trump also told that due to security reasons, he was taken to another plane by sitting in the airport’s catering truck.

The report claimed that any plane carrying Trump could have been attacked by a surface-to-air missile.
US intelligence learned that a man was also seen with a shoulder-fired missile in the vicinity of a NATO summit.
After this, the Secret Service and senior administration officials prepared an operation to expel Trump from Türkiye.
Went in a plane gifted to Qatar, returned by military plane
Earlier, Washington Post had claimed that Trump had boarded Boeing 747-8 Air Force One in front of cameras while leaving Ankara on July 8. This plane was gifted to him by Qatar.
After this, with the help of a catering vehicle that delivered luggage and food to the airport, he was quietly taken to the US Air Force’s VIP military aircraft C-32A.
In video obtained by The Washington Post, the catering vehicle can be seen passing the old Air Force One and heading toward the smaller plane.
Even the media didn’t know Trump was on another plane
Whenever the American President goes on a tour, some journalists also travel with him. Due to security reasons, every information is not made public, but these journalists definitely know which plane the President is in and where he is going.
While flying from Turkey, journalists thought that Trump was also in the same old Air Force One, but the reality was different.
Journalists were asked to keep their window shades down during the flight. That means he was not allowed to look outside.
Such precautions are usually taken when the aircraft is passing through a dangerous area.
Later, reporters asked Trump why he was asked to keep the window shades closed. Trump said, “Maybe we were on a dangerous flight. My name is at the top of their list. If I die, you will die too.”
Trump’s small plane reached Britain first
The small C-32A plane carrying Trump reached Britain’s RAF Mildenhall airbase at around 10:20 pm. A few minutes later, the old Air Force One also reached there. Journalists were on board this plane.
After this he was quietly brought in the old Air Force One. After some time, they were seen getting off the same plane, which made the journalists think that they were traveling in the same plane.
However, it is not clear how Trump reached the old Air Force One after landing from the C-32A. Trump waved at the reporters, but did not talk to them.
After this, he again boarded the official plane i.e. Air Force One and reached America from the same.
This approach has been used before
The method of hiding the President’s real journey to protect him from danger is not new. In the year 2000, President Bill Clinton visited Pakistan. He was then sent in a government plane which had no identification of the President’s plane.
At the same time, his real Air Force One was sent through another route, so that people would not know in which plane the President was.
According to US officials, this entire security operation was prepared in a matter of hours after credible threat input was received from Iran. Some selected officials including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kane and Defense Minister Pete Hegseth were involved.
Questions were also raised on the safety of the new aircraft received from Qatar.
The Boeing 747-8 plane by which Trump reached Turkey was given to America by the royal family of Qatar last year. American defense company L3 Harris Technologies has prepared it for the President’s journey.
Trump first used this plane to visit North Dakota on July 1. A few days later, he reached Turkey on his first foreign trip by the same plane.
Questions have already been raised regarding the safety of this aircraft. According to American media reports, the old Air Force One has some special security arrangements to protect the President from attack, which are not present in the aircraft received from Qatar or have different capabilities.

Plane changed on 8th July
The threat came to light on July 8, as Trump was preparing to depart Ankara on the last day of the NATO summit. Trump had publicly said he would fly out of Türkiye on an old Air Force One plane, which he described as “for old times’ sake.”
Trump was seen boarding the same plane in front of the cameras. But according to reports, he was later secretly removed from the plane through the airport’s catering container and taken to a small military aircraft.
The old Air Force One plane departed with Trump carrying White House officials, security staff and journalists. In this way the plane was acting as a decoy.
After this Trump stayed in Britain. There he secretly boarded the plane again and later returned in a Boeing 747-8 aircraft obtained from Qatar.
Trump said- wanted to send me in another plane
Trump confirmed on Tuesday that he had been moved to another plane. He told that the Secret Service and the Army had told him that they wanted Trump to go on a different plane.
“They wanted me to go on another flight, another plane,” Trump told reporters, according to The Associated Press. “Maybe there was some threat outside. I didn’t ask much about it. I get a lot of threats,” he said.
Trump downplayed the threat. He also said he thought the plane he was on may have been in more danger than it actually was.
Why was the decoy operation considered unusual?
US Presidents have previously used secret travel plans and decoy planes during trips to dangerous places.
Former President Joe Biden secretly visited Kiev in 2023. He first went to Poland and from there reached Ukraine via a secret train at night. Two journalists accompanied him and recorded information about the tour after it began.
Trump also made a secret Thanksgiving trip to Afghanistan in 2019. Officials used a decoy plane and a separate press pool to create the impression that Trump was vacationing at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Former Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Bill Clinton also took secret trips for security reasons or used travel obfuscation.
What was unusual in Trump’s case was that the deception continued even after he left the immediate danger area. The press pool traveling with him was not told that the President was not on the plane they thought was carrying the President.
Garrett M. Graff, author of the book “Raven Rock,” told the AP that the president has flown in unmarked or decoy planes before. However, he described the long-term concealment of information about Trump’s whereabouts as unprecedented.
Iran has targeted Trump before also
Trump has already become the target of threats and conspiracies related to Iran. In 2024, during an election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a bullet from a would-be attacker missed him.
Later that year, he was also targeted by an armed man at his golf course in Florida. Both of these assassination attempts were separate from Iran-related threats.
Additionally, a man was convicted of conspiracy to assassinate Trump. This conspiracy was revealed during the Biden administration.
American officials had said that this conspiracy was related to Iranian agents working through a proxy. Quoting The New York Times, US officials said that the latest intelligence was related to a specific threat received during Trump’s stay in Ankara.
