In the last few days, many reports have appeared in the media there regarding the Israeli Army. In these, it has been claimed that the army is lacking some weapons and soldiers.
According to the newspaper Maariv, the amount of ammunition used by the Israeli army in the 3-year war was equal to the amount of ammunition used in the last 30 years.
Due to this, a large number of tanks have become worn out and are no longer fit for use. There is also a serious shortage of soldiers. His leave has been stopped.
At the same time, Channel 12 reported that the purchase of 12 Apache attack helicopters from American company Boeing has been stopped due to budget shortfall.
Israeli army fought on 5 fronts in 3 years
Israel started military operations in Gaza after the Hamas attack in October 2023. After this the scope of the fighting extended beyond Gaza.
Israel also took military action in Lebanon and Iran. Its military operations also continued in the West Bank and Syria.
During this period, the army had to continuously use tanks, armored vehicles, ammunition and other military equipment on more than one front.

Thousands of crores of aid from America every year
America provides an average of 3.8 billion dollars (about 29 thousand crore rupees) of military aid to Israel every year. With this help, Israel can buy fighter planes, weapons and other military equipment from America.
According to a US parliamentary report, Israel has been the largest recipient of total foreign aid from the US since World War II. By 2023, America had provided military aid to Israel worth about Rs 1.5 lakh crore.
In such a situation, just looking at the budget problem for the purchase of weapons, it is difficult to say that the Israeli Army has run out of weapons to fight the war.
Expert said – Israel’s weapons are not exhausted, stockpile reduced
Defense analyst Hamza Attar told Al Jazeera that the Israeli army does not have such a shortage of weapons that it is not in a position to fight a war. According to him, Israel generally stocks more weapons than it needs.
Weapons and military equipment have been used in the three-year war. Therefore, the Army now wants to increase its stock again by replacing the spent and damaged weapons with new weapons. For this he needs more budget.
That is, ‘lack of weapons’ here does not mean that Israel has no weapons left to fight the war. It could also mean that the army wants to maintain its weapons stock at a level it considers necessary for a long war.

There may also be a strategy to put pressure on America and Europe
Another argument of Attar is that these news related to shortage of weapons can also work to create pressure on America and Europe to speed up the supply of weapons.
There is a growing concern in Israel that people’s thinking regarding its support in America may change. In such a situation, Israel wants to complete the arms deals quickly before there is a change in American policy in the future.
In this context, Attar gave the example of reports of possible new sales of American weapons. He says that the news of shortage of weapons can also send a message of the need to immediately increase military assistance from America and Europe.
Lack of soldiers is also a big problem
There is a section in Israel whose population is increasing, but its participation in the army is still very low. These are Haredi i.e. ultra-orthodox Jews.
At a time when the army is in need of more soldiers amid the three-year-long war, the recruitment of Haredi youth has become one of the biggest controversies.

The picture is of 9 September 2026, a plume of smoke is visible after the Israeli air strike in Gaza City.
Exemption was being given since 1948, now the court said – go to the army.
After the creation of Israel, Haredi men who were fully engaged in religious studies continued to be exempted from military service. He has argued that religious education and Torah study are a central part of his life. This system continued for decades.
But in 2024, Israel’s Supreme Court made it clear that there is no legal basis for granting mass exemption to Haredi men from the army. After the court’s decision, the army also started including them in the general recruitment process.
After this the matter was not just between the army and the youth. Haredi religious leaders and their supporters opposed the conscription. There were demonstrations at many places and some youth refused to respond to the recruitment notice.
The reason given was that joining the army would affect his religious lifestyle and religious studies.
24 thousand notices sent, only 428 reached army
The figures given by the army in the Israeli Parliament in July 2025 show the seriousness of this dispute. The army had sent recruitment notices to about 24 thousand Haredi youth.
Of these, about 1,200 reached recruitment centres, but only 428 actually joined the army. Of these too, only 98 were combat soldiers.
