Earlier, Congress was in alliance with DMK in the state, but after the 2026 assembly elections, it separated from DMK and supported TVK. 36.74 crore youth aged 15-29 years, this is 26% of the population.

All political parties are increasing their reach to Gen-Z and young voters. According to government data, in 2026 there will be around 36.74 crore youth in the age group of 15-29 years in the country. That means youth constitute about 26% of the total population. These will be the voters in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

According to the Election Commission, during the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the share of voters aged 18-29 years in the total voters of the country was 22.78%. That means almost one out of every four voters is Gen-Z.

10% youth aged between 15 to 29 years are unemployed

Government According to the India’s Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS) 2025, the unemployment rate among youth aged 15 to 29 years is 9.9%. The unemployment rate of youth in rural areas is 8.3%, while in cities it is 13.6%. It is 9.3% in men and 11.3% in women.
