Ranbir Kapoor starrer film ‘Ramayan’ has made a net collection of Rs 64.85 crore on the first day. According to Sacknilk data, it has become the second biggest Hindi opening of 2026.

The film has achieved a gross collection of ₹77.50 crore across all languages. However, this film lagged behind Prabhas’s Adipurush. Adipurush had earned ₹86.75 crore on the first day.

Highest earning in Hindi belt, screened in 25,200 shows

The film ‘Ramayana’ was released in 25,200 shows across the country, out of which the Hindi language had the biggest contribution. The Hindi version collected a net of Rs 47.50 crore through 20,678 shows.

Apart from this, the film earned Rs 7.25 crore in Kannada language, Rs 6 crore in Telugu, Rs 2.60 crore in Tamil and Rs 1.50 crore in Malayalam version.

It is expected to earn Rs 20 to 40 crore from the overseas market, due to which the worldwide collection of the film will cross Rs 100 crore.

Broke the record of ‘Pathan’-‘Animal’, lagged behind ‘Adipurush’

In terms of opening day figures, ‘Ramayan’ has left behind the first day collections of Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Pathan’ and Ranbir Kapoor’s previous film ‘Animal’.

However, it lagged behind the biggest opener of 2026, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ (₹102.55 crore nett). Apart from this, the all-language opening day record (₹86.75 crore) of Prabhas starrer ‘Adipurush’, released in the year 2023, is also ahead of this film.

Festival work and expensive tickets became the reason

According to trade experts and audiences, due to the release on Thursday and travel and preparations before Diwali, many families could not reach theaters on the first day.

Additionally, the high prices of premium tickets, lack of on-ground promotion and disappointment with ‘Adipurush’ in the past made some viewers initially cautious. The effect of all these reasons was seen on the potential collection of the first day of the film.

Praise for VFX and acting of Ranbir-Yash

After the opening day, the film has received mixed reactions from audiences and critics. The audience has appreciated the visual effects (VFX) used in the film. Apart from this, the acting of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and South Star Yash as Ravana is being liked a lot.

The film is made with a budget of Rs 4,000 crore

According to reports, ‘Ramayana’ is the biggest and most expensive project in the history of Indian cinema. The total budget of the film is said to be around Rs 4,000 crore, which includes both its parts.

In the film, Ranbir Kapoor is seen in the role of Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi in the role of Mother Sita, Ravi Dubey in the role of Laxman and KGF fame Yash in the role of Ravana.
