Businessman-actor Raj Kundra, in a recent interview, described his arrest in a pornography case in 2021 and the 63 days spent in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail as the most difficult phase of his life. He has told that while in jail, he got the news that his wife Shilpa Shetty was going to divorce him. After receiving the news, he had decided to commit suicide.
Raj told in a conversation with ABP News that in jail he came to know through the media that Shilpa Shetty was leaving him and both of them were getting divorced. Raj said, “I couldn’t sleep that night because I felt like ending my life. I felt there was no point in living. My wife and my family were most important to me. I felt like giving up my life. I really felt like committing suicide.”
Changed mind after meeting Shilpa
Raj has told that the next day after receiving the news of divorce, he spoke to Shilpa on phone. When asked, Shilpa said, “This is nonsense news. I am with you. I trust you. Don’t worry about it.”
Raj said that this statement of Shilpa gave him a lot of courage. He told, “I thought whatever you want to break, break it. My wife is with me. I can face the whole world. I don’t care.”
Survived for 63 days by drinking Parle-G and water
Recalling the time he spent in Arthur Road Jail, Raj described the conditions there as very difficult. He said that he could not eat jail food. According to Raj, he survived mostly on Parle-G biscuits and water during the 63 days. He also claimed that his weight had reduced by about 17-18 kg in jail.
