The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday barred West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee and three others from making any derogatory or false statement against Governor CV Anand Bose. In fact, the HC asked Mamata Banerjee not to make any derogatory remarks against the Governor of Bengal. The Calcutta High Court passed an injunction in the Governor vs Mamata Banerjee defamation case.

A day before this, CM Banerjee had said in her statement that the women had expressed fear about going to the Raj Bhavan against the Governor’s petition before the judge in the court.

Governor filed defamation suit

Governor Anand Bose had filed a defamation case against CM Banerjee over this statement. Actually, Mamata Banerjee had given this statement that due to the recent allegations against the governor, women do not feel safe entering the Raj Bhavan in West Bengal.

‘Do not make personal attacks…’

In such a situation, the court said that CV Anand Bose is a person holding a constitutional post. There should be no personal attacks against him using social media platforms. In such a situation, the court said that in the name of the right to freedom, no one will make defamatory statements and cannot tarnish the reputation of a person. Earlier on Monday, Bose had said this through his lawyer.
