Messaging platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Snapchat, ShareChat, JioChat, Aratai and Josh will not work without an active SIM card in the mobile. The central government on Saturday issued a new order regarding messaging platforms. The government claims that this will help in detecting cyber fraudsters.
In the order issued by the Department of Telecommunications, it has been said that messaging platforms should ensure that the app will run only when the user’s registered SIM is active in that mobile. Not only this, if the SIM is removed from the mobile under ‘SIM binding’ then WhatsApp and other messaging apps will stop.
A major change has also been made for users logging in through a web browser. Now the messaging platform will require users to logout every six hours. After this, login can be done only through QR code.
