Due to poor financial condition of the family, Malpua made of ghee could not be prepared for the funeral feast held on 17th June. Very simple food was served. This made more than a dozen Panchs of the society so angry that they issued an order the very next day on June 18, expelling a total of 43 supporting families, including this family, from the society. Life has become difficult, children are forced to sleep hungry. Life has become difficult for the families facing the brunt of boycott. The village shopkeepers are not giving them ration items. The farm owners are not hiring them. The extent is such that these families are not even being allowed to draw water from the village’s public well. Due to lack of ration, children are sleeping hungry at home. The restrictions imposed by Pahra Panchas on marriages and relationships did not stop here. There has been a complete ban on the arrival of guests in the homes of the victim families and also on visiting any of their relatives. Victim Gopal says- My aunt’s daughter was married on 20th June. I did not go to the wedding due to fear of punches. There is a decree that if anyone goes, he will have to pay a penalty of Rs 11,000 and a communal meal (gym) to the entire society. Other victim Bhogilal said- My brother Dinesh was married on 24th June. The maternal relatives refused to accept the yellow rice (invitation) due to fear of punishment and demand of Malpua. Due to this no one attended the wedding. In the words of the victims, Tejaram – The Panchas said that we had ruined the society by feeding them simple food. Now no one talks to us in the village. Not allowing water to be taken from the well. Gopal- I am so afraid of the orders of the Panchas that I did not even go to my aunt’s daughter’s wedding. Bhogilal- No relative came to my brother’s wedding. The maternal relatives refused to accept the yellow rice (invitation) out of fear. Kamla Devi- No one in the village even talks to our daughters-in-law. If we don’t make Ghee Malpua, then are we no longer human? What kind of justice is this? No hearing in the police station, now the victims appealed to the collector. On June 20, they had given a registered report in the Barlut police station. It is alleged that the police did not take any concrete action.
