The biggest responsibility of a comedy film is to make the audience laugh. The film ‘Bhai Tera Star Hai’ fails miserably in this most important task. From the beginning till the end, the film keeps assuring that something fun is about to happen, but with every next scene, there is only disappointment. There is noise, running around, misunderstandings, but laughter is nowhere to be seen. The blast that was expected from Raghav Juyal’s first solo lead film gets evaporated in the beginning itself. The story of the film is about struggling actor Ajay Singh (Raghav Juyal) living in London. After losing a cricket bet, he incurs a debt of ten thousand pounds to club owner Fatty (Sanjay Kapoor). He has only one night to return the money. But instead of telling the truth, Ajay keeps telling lies one after another. His girlfriend Roshni (Niharika NM), sister Natasha (Parvathy Omanakuttan) and Roshni’s brother Sid (Vivaan Bhatena) also get trapped in this web of lies. The story idea sounds interesting. One night, a lot of misunderstandings and slapstick comedy. But everything is so scattered on the screen that after some time it becomes difficult to understand where the story wants to go. Many scenes seem to have been added just to fill time and by the time it reaches the climax, the film becomes completely tiring. Raghav Juyal had impressed with his acting in films like Kill, but here he completely falters. This is his first solo lead film, but throughout the film he feels more like a side character than a lead hero. His facial expressions look excessively artificial and at many places overacting completely ruins the comedy. Comic timing also misses time and again, due to which his character is unable to connect with the audience. Sanjay Kapoor tries to handle some scenes with his experience, but the weak script also ties his hands. Vivaan Bhatena makes an impact in his limited screen time and in many places looks more comfortable than Raghav. Parvathy Omanakuttan gives the most balanced performance in the film. Niharika NM makes an honest effort, but the weak writing doesn’t give her much of a chance. The talents of great actors like Chandan Rai Sanyal and Nikki Walia have been very poorly utilized in the film. The biggest mistake of director Vivek B Aggarwal in the film is that he mistook noise for comedy. Throughout the film, the characters constantly run, scream and run after each other, but not a single situation is created in which one can laugh outright. The screenplay is overly complicated. New characters keep coming, but instead of strengthening the story, they further fragment it. Many punchlines pass by without leaving any impact. The biggest strength of a film based on misunderstandings is its writing, but here it proves to be the weakest link. By the time it reaches the climax, the film completely loses its grip. Technical aspect of the film: The location of London looks good and the cinematography is also fine. If the editing had been a little tighter, the impact of the film could have been better. But the technical side also seems helpless in front of the weak story and loose screenplay. Music in the film: Amit Trivedi’s music is one of the few good things about the film. However, the songs slow down the pace of the story. The strangest decision is to keep the songs continuous at the end, so that the film does not feel like it ends even after it ends. Final Verdict on the film ‘Bhai Tera Star Hai’ is a comedy in which laughter is lacking the most. The weak story, fragmented screenplay, lackluster direction and Raghav Juyal’s disappointing lead performance make this film an extremely tiring experience. The film which was supposed to give Raghav a new identity as a solo hero, could prove to be a big blow to his career. If you are going to the theater with the expectation of watching a good comedy, then this film will break both your expectations and your patience.
