Mumtaz, who was once a popular and highest paid actress, has told that before Hema Malini, she was offered the superhit film Sita Aur Geeta, however, she rejected the film because the fees were low. While saying this, Mumtaz has compared herself with Hema Malini and described herself as better than her. Also, Mumtaz has told that she had taken a fee of Rs 20 lakh for appearing as a guest in the TV show with Dharmendra.
Recently, in a conversation with Vicky Lalwani, Mumtaz was asked whether she was going to do the film Sita Aur Geeta with Dharmendra, but the matter did not work out due to fees. In response he said, ‘It was Ramesh Sippy Sahab’s picture, he himself was a very big director and producer, so he might have thought that he will do it for Rs 2 lakh because I am a big producer. Every big producer has an ego. She thought that if I offer her, Mumtaz will not accept, but with the blessings of Allah and the blessings of God, I was getting so many pictures that I did not feel that my future would be only after this picture.

He further said, ‘I told him that Ramesh ji, this is a very low fee. So he said no, I can give only this much. Although he is a good person. So not our deposit. So let’s see, he did it. Hema Malini has done it.
When Mumtaz was told that that was the biggest film of Hema Malini’s career, Mumtaz retorted and asked, ‘How many other big films are there in her career?’ Are his or mine bigger films? I have given more hits. I don’t speak big words. Sorry. God forgive me.
Mumtaz further said, ‘For me all the producers are my life. Because of them we continue to eat and drink. So we can’t make enemies, can we? There is a level. Even today they call me on TV. I went on TV for the first time with Dharam ji before his passing. Till date they contact me 100 times and I said this is my prize, if you want to give it then let me know. They say that people can do it for Rs 3-4 (lakh). I said, look, I can’t say anything for him, it’s his wish. If he wants, he can do it for free also. But this is my prize and I have always been like this.
‘Not when I was a small actress. But when I grew up, I said, this is my prize. If you want to take it, take it. Don’t want to take it, don’t take it. And even today I am telling the TV people and I am looking into the camera that I have told you a thousand times that this is my prize.

Finally, when Mumtaz was asked what was the fee for inviting her to the show, she replied, ‘I had done only one show (Indian Idol), for that I had taken Rs 18-20 lakh from Sony people. I have done only one show with Dharam ji, I have not done any with him because he says that he cannot give that much. Thousands of offers come, but I did not do it. Throw money and watch the show.
