Akshay Khanna did many films as a hero in his career spanning almost three decades but he did not get the success he deserved.

But his character in his recently released film Dhurandhar has given him such success that people are talking more about the villain of the film than the hero.

Meanwhile, an years old interview of Akshay Khanna has again come into limelight, in which he is talking about the beginning of his career.

In the video, Akshay is seen saying- ‘I got very little success in the beginning. Found very little. I did wrong films, chose wrong scripts. So, something went wrong. But I never try to copy anyone.

Akshay received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for the film Himalaya Putra.

When he was asked in the interview whether his father had encouraged him to become an actor, Akshay said – ‘No, no one encouraged him. He wanted me to go ahead and study more. But, I think by the time I was 15-16 years old, I had decided that I would become an actor.

If I want to do something in life, I can do it here. I will do it only here and from here I will get happiness and satisfaction.

Akshay also told how he had told his father that he wanted to become an actor. He recalls, ‘Actually, JP Dutta Saheb came home for dinner. I was in boarding school at that time and was about 18 years old. So he told me I was making a picture, Border. I have such a role. Would you like to work?’

Akshay also received many nominations and awards for his role in Border.

Akshay further says- ‘I wanted to speak to father but I was a little nervous. When and how should I tell them that I want to work in films. This opportunity seemed best to me. I thought, hold it with both hands.

I said yes, I will work. When is the movie starting? Then JP sir said after one year. By then I was about to leave school.

What was father’s reaction when he came to know? Want to work in films? I said yes, let’s see. It’s a small role, a film with a multi-star cast.

When JP sir asked, I said, let me try. He said if you want to do it then tell me. I said yes, I want to. On this father said that then I will make a picture for you.

In the year 1997, Akshay Khanna started acting with the film ‘Himalaya Putra’ produced by his father Vinod Khanna. Vinod Khanna also worked in this film.

Later that year he was seen in the film Border. Akshay received the Most Promising Newcomer award for his acting in both the films.
