Tributes were paid to Padma Vibhushan awardee Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan at the Attendance Program 2026 in BKC’s Jio World Garden on Saturday in Mumbai. For the first time, his disciples and great singers of the country shared the same stage. This concert took place on the fifth death anniversary of Ustad Sahib. A.R. Rahman, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam and Shaan attended their guru not as singers but as disciples. The event was organized by Ustad Sahib’s son Rabbani Mustafa Khan and daughter-in-law Namrata Gupta Khan. A.R. Rahman started the program with Sufi songs. He sang songs like Kun Faaya Kun, Khwaja Mere Khwaja and Arziyan. After this he performed Aao Balma and Piya Haji Ali with Mustafa family. Singer Shaan sang songs like Main Hoon Don, Chand Remedy and Om Shanti Om, and also recited Ustad Saheb’s ghazal Chale Aao. Hariharan sang songs like Tu Hi Re, Roja, Bahon Ke Darmiyaan and Yaadein. Sonu Nigam concluded the evening with Pardesiya, Kal Ho Na Ho, Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin Aur Sandesh Aate Hai. Who was Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan? Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan was a Hindustani classical singer and music guru. He was associated with the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana. He was born on 3 March 1931 in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh and received the title of ‘Junior Tansen’. He was awarded the Padma Shri (1991), Padma Bhushan (2006), Padma Vibhushan (2018) and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2003) for his contribution to the field of music. He has trained many veteran artists of Bollywood and classical music, including Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, A.R. Names like Rahman, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, and Shaan are included.
