A new revelation has come to light in the bus accident that took place on December 9 in Kurla, Mumbai. Police arrested the driver and presented him in the District Court on Tuesday. Police told the court that they are also investigating whether the driver did this incident intentionally.
Police suspect that the driver did not use the bus as a weapon. The court has sent bus driver Sanjay More to police custody till December 21. So far 7 people have died in the accident. 49 injured are undergoing treatment. They have been admitted to Sion and Kurla Bhabha.

Accused driver Sanjay More (54) was driving the bus for the first time on Monday. He had joined BEST as a contract driver on December 1 itself. The police have arrested the accused driver.
A case of culpable homicide has been registered against Sanjay. In his statement to the police, he confessed that he was confused about the automatic transmission of the bus.
Here, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced to give Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those who died in the Kurla BEST bus accident.

Eyewitnesses said – the bus was waving before hitting Eyewitness Zaid Ahmed, who was present at the time of the accident, said that he was leaving his house to go to the railway station. He saw that the bus was swaying rapidly. Zaid ran there and saw that a BEST bus had hit several vehicles including pedestrians, an auto rickshaw and three cars.
He also saw some dead bodies. After this he rescued the passengers traveling in the auto rickshaw and took them to Bhabha Hospital. His friends also helped in providing relief to the injured.
The bus is three months old, BMC had taken it on lease. Another official of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) said that the bus was a 12 meter long electric bus manufactured by Olectra and BEST had taken it on wet lease. He informed that drivers of such buses are provided by private operators. An RTO official said, the bus is only three months old. It has been registered in the name of a company named EVEY Trans on August 20 this year.
RTO team investigated technical fault in the bus After the accident, the bus was removed from the spot with the help of crane and earth mover machine at 12.30 pm and was brought to Kurla depot at 1.15 pm. Sources in the Regional Transport Office (RTO) said a team inspected the bus to find out if there were any technical faults in it. This team will submit the report to the police based on the points found in the investigation.
