Eyewitnesses said – the bus was waving before hitting Eyewitness Zaid Ahmed, who was present at the time of the accident, said that he was leaving his house to go to the railway station. He saw that the bus was swaying rapidly. Zaid ran there and saw that a BEST bus had hit several vehicles including pedestrians, an auto rickshaw and three cars.

Another official of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) said that the bus was a 12 meter long electric bus manufactured by Olectra and BEST had taken it on wet lease. He informed that drivers of such buses are provided by private operators. An RTO official said, the bus is only three months old. It has been registered in the name of a company named EVEY Trans on August 20 this year.

RTO team investigated technical fault in the bus ​​​​​After the accident, the bus was removed from the spot with the help of crane and earth mover machine at 12.30 pm and was brought to Kurla depot at 1.15 pm. Sources in the Regional Transport Office (RTO) said a team inspected the bus to find out if there were any technical faults in it. This team will submit the report to the police based on the points found in the investigation.
