New revelations are being made every day in the Worli hit-and-run case in Mumbai. The Juhu pub where Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah’s son Mihir Shah had drunk before the accident claims that he had come to drink by showing a fake ID.
According to sources, the pub management alleged that Mihir Shah had shown them his identity card, which showed his age as 27 years. He was accompanied by three friends. All three are over 30 years old. Police claim that according to official records Mihir is 24 years old, while the minimum legal age for drinking alcohol is 25 years.
Sources in the excise officials said that on the basis of the pub bill, it was found that Mihir Shah and his two friends had ordered 12 large pegs of whiskey at the bar that day. That means one youth had drunk about four pegs. This amount of alcohol can keep someone inebriated for eight hours.
Mihir and his friends left the pub at 1.30 am on Saturday-Sunday and this accident happened around 5:30 am on Sunday. On Sunday (7 July), Mihir Shah hit a couple with his BMW car. In this, 45-year-old woman Kaveri Nakhwa died.

The accused dragged the woman with his car for about 1.5 km. Mihir’s driver was also in the car with him. He was sitting on the seat next to the driver. Mumbai Police arrested Mihir Shah on Tuesday (July 9), the third day of the hit-and-run case. He has been sent to police custody till July 16.
Police said on Wednesday (July 10) that Mihir has confessed that he was driving the car at the time of the accident. After hitting the couple’s scooter, he knew that the woman was stuck in one of the car’s tyres. Despite this, he did not stop the car and dragged the woman.
According to the officer, after crossing the Bindu Madhav Thackeray Chowk, other drivers asked Mihir Shah to stop the car, but he did not listen to them and continued driving. After fleeing from there, Mihir Shah cut his hair and beard to hide his identity. Police are investigating whether someone helped him in changing his appearance.
The accused claims that he has a driving license, but the license has not been recovered yet. Police said that Mihir Shah is not cooperating in the investigation. He also did not tell where he started driving after leaving the bar and for how long he drove.
After the accident, the accused made 40 calls to his girlfriend
Sources said that after the accident, Mihir first called his father. He was the one who asked him to run away. After this, Mihir left the BMW car and the driver near Kala Nagar in Bandra. To avoid getting caught, he removed the number plate of the car.
After leaving the car, he took a rickshaw and went to his girlfriend’s house in Goregaon. From the time of the accident to the time he reached his girlfriend’s house, Mihir talked to his girlfriend on the phone 40 times. Mihir stayed at his girlfriend’s house for 2 hours. During this time, the girlfriend informed Mihir’s sister about the incident on the phone.
After this, Mihir’s sister came to his girlfriend’s house and took her brother to her house in Borivali. From there, Rajesh Shah’s wife Meena and both daughters (Puja and Kinjal) left with Mihir Shah and his friend Avdeep for a resort in Shahpur, about 70 km from Mumbai. Police have said that Mihir’s girlfriend may also be questioned.

Police caught Mihir by tracking his friend’s mobile
Meanwhile, the police were constantly tracking the phones of Mihir Shah, his family, girlfriend and close friends. However, everyone’s phones were switched off. Meanwhile, on Monday (8 July) night, Mihir came to Virar with his friend. His friend has a house in Virar.
On Tuesday (9 July) morning, his friend turned on his phone for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the police got his location and Mihir Shah was arrested. After this, the police also detained his mother and sisters from the resort.
Police said that Rajesh Shah’s family had gone to the resort in two vehicles including the family car. Everyone had switched off their mobile phones and their house was also locked. Mumbai Police had formed 11 teams to catch Mihir. Crime Branch was also included. A Look Out Circular (LOC) was also issued against him.
Rajesh Shah was planning to get the car towed when the patrolling team arrived. According to police sources, after Mihir Shah fled, his father Rajesh Shah went to Kala Nagar in Bandra, where Mihir left the driver Rajrishi Rajendra Singh Bidawat with the car. Rajesh Shah was planning to get the BMW towed. Meanwhile, on the information of the deceased woman Kaveri Nakhwa’s husband, the patrolling team reached the spot.
The police immediately seized the car and arrested Rajesh Shah along with driver Bidawat and brought them to the police station. Both were presented in Shivdi court on 8 July. Rajesh had filed a bail petition in the court, on which the court granted him bail on a bond of Rs 15,000. At the same time, the court has extended the police custody of driver Bidawat till 11 July.
Here, on Wednesday (July 10), following the order of CM Eknath Shinde, Shiv Sena also removed Rajesh Shah from the post of deputy leader of the party in Palghar. However, Shah still remains a member of Shiv Sena.
A couple returning after buying fish was hit
The couple hit by Mihir Shah belong to the fishermen’s community. On Sunday (7 July), Pradeep Nakhwa, who lives in the Koliwada area of Worli, was returning with his wife Kaveri Nakhwa after buying fish from Sassoon Dock as usual.
Meanwhile, near Atria Mall, a speeding BMW hit them from behind. The collision was so severe that the scooter overturned and both the husband and wife fell on the bonnet of the car. The husband immediately jumped off the bonnet in an attempt to save himself, but the wife could not get up.
In a hurry to escape, the accused crushed the woman and dragged her with the car. After this, the accused Mihir and his driver fled with the car. The injured woman was taken to Nair Hospital in Mumbai Central, but by then she had died.

According to the police, CCTV footage from the spot where the BMW left showed that Mihir Shah stopped the car after dragging the dying Kaveri Nakhwa for 1.5 km. Mihir then swapped seats with his driver. After taking over the steering, the driver drove the car backwards and crushed Kaveri who had fallen on the road. The two then fled from the spot.
On Tuesday, July 9, the Excise Department sealed the Vice Global Tapas Bar in Juhu. The accused Mihir had come here to drink alcohol. Action has been taken against this bar after a 2-day investigation, in which the Excise Department has found violation of rules in bar operations.
Police presented CCTV footage in the court
The police also presented the CCTV footage in the court, which shows the incident. The police also told the court that both of them ran fast towards Kala Nagar, where the engine of the car stopped. After this, Mihir called his father Rajesh Shah from Bidawat’s phone.
Mihir informed his father about the accident and also about the BMW car being broken. Rajesh reached there in a Mercedes. He talked to Mihir and asked him to run away. Later Rajesh made a plan to get the BMW removed from there.

On Wednesday (10 July), the Mumbai Municipal Corporation bulldozed the bar in Juhu where Mihir had gone before the accident. The excise department has sealed the bar.

After the accident, the Worli police checked the CCTV cameras installed around the accident site, which revealed that the car belonged to Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah. Rajesh Shah is the leader of the ruling Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) in Palghar.
Worli police has registered a case of hit-and-run and seized the white BMW car. The police investigation has also revealed an attempt to destroy evidence. There was a Shiv Sena sticker on the windshield of the car.
After the incident, an attempt was made to scratch off the sticker to hide the car’s connection with the party. One of the car’s number plates was also removed, but the police scanned the CCTV footage, which revealed the car owner.
