The winners of the 55th Kerala State Film Awards were announced on 3 November. Famous actor Mammootty received the Best Actor Award for his performance in director Rahul Sadasivan’s horror film ‘Brahmayugam’. But Mammootty has not received the National Film Award till date. Actor Prakash Raj has expressed his displeasure on this.

Talking to the media, actor Prakash Raj said, I have no hesitation in saying that the National Film Award is compromised. I am very happy that I became the jury chairman of Kerala Film Awards, because when they called me they said that we need an experienced outsider and we will not interfere in it. You decide independently.

Without naming ‘The Kashmir Files’, he further said, this does not happen in National Awards. When films like Files and Piles get a lot of awards, it seems that both the jury and the government are not taking honest decisions. In such an environment, it is sad that an artist like Mammootty is ignored.

Let us tell you that for his brilliant work, Mammootty has won three National Film Awards, seven Kerala State Film Awards, 14 Filmfare Awards, 11 Kerala Film Critics Awards and 5 Asianet Film Awards.
