An FIR has been registered against TMC President and former West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in the inflammatory speech case.
According to news agency ANI, it was registered at Hare Street police station in Kolkata on June 7, the information of which has come to light today. The complaint has been lodged by a person named Tushar Kanti Das.
Here, on Friday, the CID team reached the house of TMC MP and party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in the fake signature case. During this time his lawyer also reached there.
Abhishek’s lawyer Debashish Rai said that CID has not given us any information. At present we do not know why the CID team has come here.
Complaint against hate speech
Complainant Tushar Kanti Das alleges that Mamata Banerjee had given a provocative speech on 9 March 2026 from the protest stage in Dharmatala, Kolkata. Due to this, there was a fear that communal harmony would be affected and the democratic system of the state would be affected. Based on the complaint, zero FIR was first registered at Netaji Nagar police station, which was later transferred to Hare Street police station.
A case was registered under sections 196(1), 351(2) and 352 of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) on June 7 at Hare Street police station of Kolkata Police.
Kiren Rijiju had called the statement disturbing
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had shared Mamata Banerjee’s speech on X on 27 May 2026. He had written – This is the most disturbing and insulting statement of Mamta ji so far. People’s security should not depend on anyone but on law and order.
In fact, while giving a speech in Bengali, Mamata had said, “We are there, so you all are safe. If we were not there, people of a particular community would have surrounded you and eliminated you in a second.”
Police officials say that the investigation of the case is in the initial stage. The speech and all the facts related to it are being investigated. Police are collecting evidence in the case and investigating the alleged speech. As the investigation progresses, more information may emerge in this case.
