Schools and colleges in Imphal and Jiribam will reopen on Friday after being closed for 13 days. The Education Directorate said in its order that classes will start from Friday in all government, aided, private and central schools in the affected districts.

The Higher and Technical Education Department has also issued orders to open all government-aided colleges and state universities from Friday itself. All educational institutions have been closed since November 16 following the exchange of fire between security forces and Kuki militants in Jiribam.

Mobile internet and data services remained suspended in nine districts including Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Jiribam and Pherzaul after the violence broke out.

288 companies of CAPF deployed in security of Manipur

  • 8 November: Six houses were burnt by armed militants in Jairawan village of Jiribam district. The villagers alleged that the attackers had also opened fire. A woman had died in the incident. The deceased woman was identified as Josangkim Hamar (31). He has 3 children. Villagers allege that the attackers belonged to the Meitei community. Many people ran away from home after the incident.
  • 7 November: A woman from the Hamar tribe was killed by suspected militants. They also set fire to houses in Jiribam. In the police case, her husband alleged that she was raped before being burnt alive. A day later, a woman from the Meitei community was shot dead by suspected Kuki rebels.
