Nupur Alankar was born on 25 November 1972 in Jaipur. He was fond of art and acting since childhood. He started with theater and small stages and gradually entered the world of TV. In 1990, he entered the world of acting with the famous TV show Shaktimaan. After this, she was seen in shows like Ret, Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan, Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo and Bhaage Re Man.

Not just TV shows, Nupur has also worked in Hindi films in her 27-year-long career. She was seen in films like Saawariya, Raja Ji and Sonali Cable. Even though his roles were small, he left his mark in every role. After this, in 2002, Nupur married her co-actor Alankar Srivastava.

Everything was very happy in Nupur Alankar’s life. A loving husband, a wonderful home and her own identity in the world of TV. Life was going on like a beautiful dream. Then came the year 2019, this was the same year when Nupur’s life was surrounded by difficulties.

In the year 2019, news of Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank scam came and Nupur’s money was also in the same bank. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) dissolved the bank’s board, due to which all accounts were frozen and strict restrictions were imposed on withdrawals. Because of this, Nupur’s lifetime earnings of around Rs 1 crore got stuck in that bank.

After this, a period of financial difficulties started in Nupur’s life. She even had to sell her jewelery and faced financial crunch for a long time.

Nupur said, I was going through extreme financial crisis. I had accounts in other banks, which I had transferred to PMC a few years ago. I had no idea that my family members, mother, sister, husband, sister-in-law, father-in-law and my entire savings would be frozen like this. RBI first increased the withdrawal limit for every account holder to Rs 1000, then to Rs 10 thousand and then to Rs 25 thousand. But this amount can be withdrawn only once in 6 months.

Due to no money at home and bank accounts being frozen, I have no option left except selling jewellery. I even took Rs 3000 from one of my fellow actors. A friend transferred Rs 500 for my travel. I had borrowed Rs 50 thousand from friends.

Not only 2019, but 2020 was also full of difficulties for Nupur’s life. In June 2020, his mother became seriously ill and was admitted to the hospital. But due to financial constraints, Nupur could not get her mother treated and due to this her mother died. Amidst this grief, his sister Jigyasa also died. Many media reports claimed that the sister was murdered due to a property dispute. It was from here that Nupur’s life changed completely, or rather her life itself became filled with difficulties and sorrows.

Nupur said, Sister’s murder changed everything. I started breaking away from the world. There was no interest in worldly life. After the departure of his mother and sister, he meditated silently for three months and during that time he started understanding the meaning of life.

Gradually Nupur realized that she had to move away from fame, money and glamor and seek spiritual peace. Then came the year 2022, when Nupur took the biggest decision of her life. She not only left acting, but also decided to separate from her husband Alankar Srivastava and adopted the life of a sadhvi.

Nupur donated all her clothes and belongings, cut her hair short and started living in only a simple dress. After this, she went towards the Himalayas, where she meditated by staying in ashrams and caves and by begging for alms when needed, she was living her life completely like a saint. While meditating in the caves, he was even bitten by rats. He even got frostbite while doing penance in the Himalayas.

When Nupur was asked whether there was any major reason for retiring apart from mother’s death, sister’s murder and money-property disputes? On this he said, There came a time in my life when I used to say take everything from me, just give me peace. She was tired of the bitterness of life, jealousy in relationships and problems that had been going on since childhood. My childhood was never like flowers. From a young age he witnessed horrific incidents like carnage, property disputes and even murders. There were many problems even after marriage.

Then I started sadhana and experienced true peace within about 6–7 months. It is said that the monkey got the ginger, similarly when someone has the realization of God, then he does not want anything else except Him.

Actress Renuka Shahane informed about Nupur’s difficult situation through social media and appealed for help. After this post, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar sent Rs 10 lakh to help him. Nupur saw him as God and always remembered his help.

When Nupur suddenly retired after a long acting career of 27 years, when and how did she tell her friends about it, Nupur said, I didn’t get a chance to tell anyone. I just sent a WhatsApp message which read, I took sanyas (I took sanyas) and after that the calls and messages started coming continuously. Someone asked, when? How? So someone said, you have come to your place. Some said on the phone, what have you done Nupur, well you have done another scandal.

It was only after my initiation that I informed everyone. After this I disconnected myself from WhatsApp. Initially some fans thought that I was adopting Sadhvi’s getup for some role, but now gradually everyone is believing that I have actually retired not to be in the limelight.

Nupur has told Dainik Bhaskar that she is soon going on a long trip to the Himalayas.
