Five new judges appointed in the Supreme Court are going to take oath today. Chief Justice (CJI) Surya Kant will administer the oath of office to these five new judges. After this swearing-in, the number of judges in the Supreme Court will increase to 37, which is only one less than the sanctioned strength (38).
The Central Government on Monday approved the appointment of senior advocate Venkita Subramani Mohana, Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Shri Chandrashekhar, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court Sanjeev Sachdeva, and Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court Arun Palli as Supreme Court judges.

Nomination begins for 24 Rajya Sabha seats from 10 states, voting on June 18
On Monday, the Election Commission had issued notification for elections on 24 Rajya Sabha seats in 10 states. Nominations for this will start from today. These include 4 seats each from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat; 3 seats each from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh; 2 seats from Jharkhand; And 1 seat each from Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur and Meghalaya is included.
Voting will be held on these seats on June 18 and the results will also be declared on the same day. The process of filling the forms for the elections has started and the last date is June 8. Apart from this, notification has also been issued for by-elections on 1 seat each in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Odisha.
17 year old youth stabbed to death in Delhi; Forensic team reached the spot
A 17-year-old youth was stabbed to death in New Osmanpur area of North East Delhi late on Monday night. DCP Rahul Alwal said that when the police team reached the spot after receiving information about the incident, 17-year-old Abhishek was found lying on the ground.
According to eyewitnesses, this incident took place in broad daylight in a crowded area, where there was constant movement of people due to the local market. The forensic team has inspected the crime scene and collected necessary evidence and a case is being registered under Section 103(1) of BNS.
Stones pelted at police during anti-encroachment operation in Jammu; 3 policemen injured
Three policemen, including a woman police DSP, were injured in stone pelting by protesters during a protest march called against the anti-encroachment drive in the forest area of Jammu, following which the police had to fire in the air to disperse the crowd.
On May 26, during an operation in the lower Shivalik hills, about 60 kanals of forest land worth crores of rupees was freed by demolishing more than 30 illegal structures. According to the police, no permission was taken for this protest march.
