Two bombs were recovered from a garage near the house of Trinamool Congress panchayat member Sheikh Mustaqin at Jagatballavpur in Howrah, West Bengal. Information about the bomb being found came to light during a demonstration by local people accusing the Panchayat member of corruption and taking “cut money”. Police reached the spot and confiscated the bombs safely. Police have started investigating how the bombs were brought there and who was behind it. The government was not able to get the bill passed in the budget session. On April 17, 528 MPs voted in the Lok Sabha. 298 votes were cast in favor and 230 against, whereas 352 votes were required for a two-thirds majority. After objections from the southern states, the government has prepared a formula to increase the Lok Sabha seats equally by 50%.
