India on Friday expressed strong objection to the controversial post of Mahfooz Alam, advisor to the head of the interim government in Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus. Mahfouz had made a controversial post on 16 December. In this, parts of India’s Bengal, Tripura and Assam were shown in Bangladesh.

On this matter, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a press briefing – We have come to know that that post has been removed, but we still want to remind them to be cautious about public comments. Such comments show that you need to be more responsible when making public comments.

Spokesperson Jaiswal also said that India has repeatedly shown interest in promoting relations with the people and interim government of Bangladesh. But such comments can affect the relations between the two countries.

The Ministry of External Affairs also revealed that after Sheikh Hasina left the government in the year 2024, 2,200 cases of violence against Hindus have been reported in Bangladesh.

Regarding the incidents of violence in Bangladesh, spokesperson Jaiswal said that the Indian government has taken these incidents seriously and has expressed its concerns with the Bangladesh government. India hopes that the Bangladesh government will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of Hindus and other minorities.

Earlier, Mahfouz Alam had said in a controversial post that India should recognize the rebellion which forced the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resign.

Mahfouz also said that to keep Bangladesh independent from dependence on India, it had to happen after 1975 by 2024. There is a gap of fifty years between the two events, but in reality nothing has changed.

Inflammatory statements of Bangladeshi leaders continue After the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina, provocative statements are being made continuously by Bangladeshi leaders. A few days ago, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi had said that if India asks for Chittagong, we will take back Bengal, Bihar and Odisha.

In response to this, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that what do you think, if you try to occupy our land then we will keep eating lollipops?

While addressing the West Bengal Assembly, Mamata appealed to the people not to be troubled by the statements being made in Bangladesh. He assured the public that West Bengal will always support the Centre’s decision. Mamta asked people to stay calm, stay healthy and maintain peace of mind.
