Indian writer, lawyer and social activist Banu Mushtaq has created history by winning the International Booker Prize for his book ‘Heart Lamp’. Heart lamp is the first book written in Kannada language, which has won the Booker Prize. Deepa Bhashthi has translated the stories of heart lamps into English.

Heart lamps are a collection of small stories. Between 1990 and 2023, this book, written over three decades, has 12 stories that reflect the difficulties of Muslim women living in South India in a poignant manner.
