Billionaire Sunil Bharti Mittal-led Bharti Enterprises will buy a 24.5% stake in British telecom company BT Group PLC. Initially, Bharti Televentures plans to buy a 9.99% stake. After buying this stake, it will buy the remaining 14.51% stake after getting the necessary regulatory approvals.

In this way, Bharti Global will establish a strong presence in the British telecom sector. This stake will be bought from Altice UK. Altice UK is part of Altice Europe, a leading telecom and mass media company.

Bharti Enterprises believes that this strategic investment of acquiring 24.5% stake in British Telecom Group will create new collaborations in the telecom sector between India and the United Kingdom.

Cooperation between the two countries will be promoted in key areas such as AI, 5G research and core engineering. The relationship between the two companies is more than two decades old and strong.

This deal can be done for around 34 thousand crores rupees
Bharti Global did not disclose how much the company would pay the British company in the transaction. Market experts say that at a valuation of around $17 billion (1.43 lakh crores) for BT, the deal could be worth around $4 billion (34 thousand crores). On the news of this deal, BT’s shares closed with a gain of 7.36% in London.
