Case 1- ‘If I had not stopped for tea, I could have lost my life’
Pilgrim Gada Elaweni told ANI that his group was traveling from Kathmandu in three buses. On the way everyone stopped for some time to drink tea. This stay later proved to be the most important decision of his life.
They later learned that the two buses that had left about half an hour before them were washed away in the strong flood currents and there was no trace of them.
Elaveni said that he had no idea that such a big disaster was coming on the way. He said, “We never thought that this would happen to us. Well, we did not get the darshan, but God brought us home safely.”
He said that they had traveled about 80 kilometers from Kathmandu and all the people traveling in the three buses were safe.
Pilgrim Ghada Elaweni narrated his ordeal in an interview with ANI.
Case 2- The entire school was washed away before our eyes, fortunately the children were saved.
Rajendra Dawadi, principal of Tribhuvan Secondary Co-Educational School, was teaching in a class. Just then his friend came running. He told that someone living in the upper area of the river had called and informed about the flood.
Dawadi told Bhaskar, ‘I immediately instructed to ring the school bell continuously, so that the alarm of danger could be given. There were 1,600 students in the school. I don’t know how many days there were due to flood. The school was washed away in the flood before my eyes.
‘It is fortunate that the children survived. Later I was rescued by helicopter. Children from flood affected areas studied in the school. Many children have lost entire families.
Case 3- 6 year old girl remained buried under debris for 3 days, rescued by rescue team
In Timure area of Rasuwa, the rescue team pulled out a 6-year-old girl alive from under the debris three days after the flood.
When the team was searching for the missing people, they heard the sound of a girl crying from under the debris. After this, the soldiers removed the soil and debris and took him out.
After the rescue, the girl was taken to Timure police post. When his health deteriorated, preparations were made to send him to Kathmandu, but due to bad weather and darkness, he could not be airlifted.
The next day he was airlifted to Kathmandu by helicopter, where he is undergoing treatment. The video of this rescue has also surfaced. In this, soldiers are seen taking out the girl safely amidst heavy debris.
